I will admit I'm an Ally Carter fan. Although her heroines tend to be a little more emotional (in an angsty teen way) than I always prefer, they're also sweet and determined and plucky. Maddie is no different. I like her vulnerability here, especially combined with her skills and insistence on doing what needs to be done, no matter what. I also like her rapport with Logan, and of course, the G-rated romance and friendship between them. One-sentence summary of book: Maddie and Logan meet again when his father (the POTUS) decides he can't keep Logan safe in DC and sends him to Maddie's cabin in Alaska,; of course, trouble follows, and soon Maddie and Logan are being forced to march through the Alaskan wilderness with an enemy who wants them dead. Genre: YA adventure; YA romance. Publishing Info: Scholastic Press, 3/18. Overall review synopsis: 4/5 stars; will most likely re-read down the line; recommended for younger teens and anyone who likes survival adventure, no love triangles, characters with heart and not a ton of edges, and strong heroines.
